It's Just An Illusion

Throughout the late 1990’s, President Bill Clinton was accused of having an affair with his intern, Monica Lewinsky. Bill Clinton being a married man to the very successful and well-known Secretary of State today, created chaos within the press. Investigations were started and reporters wanted to know everything about this situation. While this whole disarray was happening, the Clinton Administration failed to notice 19 Saudi Arabian men taking piloting lessons and not interested in learning how to land. This led to the worst bombing on American territory. If the President wasn’t caught up in this scandal, the bombing could’ve possibly been avoided.

This relates to A Street Car Named Desire, by Tennessee Williams. “I couldn’t go on believing her story and living with Stanley.” (Stella 1232) Stella and Hilary both are dealing with the same situation and with the thought of the love of their life cheating on them is just something they couldn’t really accept at all.  They both had to move on and tell themselves that that possibly couldn’t have happened. Even with the obvious evidence that Stella and Hilary saw, they had to keep on living and act like it didn’t happen. Even though Stella lived with her sister for most of her life and defended her throughout the entire play, she just couldn’t face the facts and let her sister be taken away to an insane asylum.
